the doughnut plant.

my sister and i spent the day in nyc yesterday as part of my request for a [early] birthday celebration. on our busy itinerary included a trip to a place called the doughnut plant.

one of jocey’s friends has been urging us to go for a while. apparently the doughnuts there are AMAZING. and well, i pretty much have to agree.

after a nice stroll through chinatown [chicago's chinatown just doesn't compare. i almost felt like i was back in beijing - lotsa people, lotsa streetfood, and lots of yelling in chinese], we ended up at the plant before the rush and bought way too many doughnuts.

TWO BAGS of doughnut goodness.

TWO BAGS of doughnut goodness.

if i remember correctly, we got two creme brulees, tres leche, organic orange, valrhona chocolate, pistachio, and cinnamon bun. they were all really delicious! the creme brulee was AMAZING. the dough was chewy and warm, with just the right amount of cream in the middle, and the top was covered in this glaze that was just a little bit crispy. YUMMMY.

about ready to take a big ol' bite out of the pistachio doughnut.

pistachio was really great. i haven’t seen this flavor anywhere else. and etc etc etc, the others were fabulous, etc etc etc. :D i have no complaints. except maybe the price. i don’t remember how much it was per doughnut since my sister paid but just for five doughtnuts, it was about sixteen dollars. : /

besides the price, doughnut plant was a great success! check out their yelp page for reviews and all that jazz. now if only i could find a doughnut plant in chicago. i do love me some gourmet doughnuts. humhum.
apparently they have nine locations in japan. whaaaaat.

Maybe you need to do a post about vegetables because one might think that all you eat is candy, donuts, and tastykakes.
